Sizes of Chicken Houses

What size should your chicken house be? What size should my chicken house be? How many chickens can I fit in a poultry house? What is the best size chicken house for me?

chicken-fonts.jpg

We can custom build a steel poultry house for you. This article shows you what size house you need to house the number of chickens you wish to raise.

Steel poultry sheds come in many different sizes and materials. Depending on how many chickens you wish to fit in the house we can build a house to suit your needs.

All of our houses come with the following equipment. Further down you will find out what size chicken house you need to put the number of birds you wish to raise. Our poultry sheds are made from robust steel angle iron and clad in 0.3mm galvanised sheets. The smaller houses use 25mm angle iron and the larger houses use 30mm x 300mm angle iron. We have worked on the industry standard of 15 birds per square metre but this can be increased up to 21 chickens per square with proper poultry management and care. We can also use thicker steel sheeting and angle iron if you wish. We also offer insulation for poultry houses.construction1

For a simple formula - (amount of birds you want to farm (B)) divide by (amount of birds per square meter (Q)) = (square meters house required (S)) -

B ÷ Q = S - example: 2000birds ÷ 15 birds per meter = 133 square meters.

Or if you have a poultry house and want to see how many birds you can place - ( Length (L) x Width (W) = Square meters) x (amount of birds per square meter (Q)) = Total amount of birds (T)

(L X W) x Q = T - example: (30m x 6m) x 15 birds per meter = 2700 in the house. You can then look at the land space you have and decide on the right dimensions.

The number of chickens you can fit in a poultry house depends on how much space you have. Below are some of the standard size chicken sheds we make. Below are some of the standard size chicken sheds we make. Look for how many birds you can fit in the house and then you can decide what size poultry house you want.

You will need to decide what size should my chicken house be? The best poultry steel structures are built on site and are fully welded structures - chicken houses that are trucked and and dropped on site are never ideal - the house will seldom be level and the houseis often slightly damaged.Unlessyou are putting up a small poultey shed in you back garden you would be advised to let the experts erect your poultry house - they come in different sizes and configuations depeding on whether you are doing egg farming or broiler farming. There is no standard size of a poultry house - altough the structure should not be wider than 7m on a knock down structure - or steel chicken unit. The wider the house the less effective the cutains are in cooling the house down. Broiler chicken houses are usually a little narower due to the fact that you will not need to place layer cages inside. The best size of a chicken house will depend on how many chickens you want to farm with, or how much space you have in which to place the structure. Budget is obviosly the last constarint.
